vortex doors houston commercial door repairBragging is not one of our strengths. We stick to industrial door service, installation, & repair. However, we do receive feedback from customers that puts a smile on our faces and continues to be the reason we love doing what we do.

We’re not trying to single anyone out but these three customers really made us a blush. We can’t express enough how glad we are that our services were more than they expected.

What a pleasure it was to have Kipp here for the day and definitely wanted to send our highest compliments and regards. Not only was he professional and informative during the repair of our door, he was a true gentleman and a pleasure to be around. It was refreshing to have this wonderful experience. You must be extremely proud of your staff.

I wanted to tell you what an amazing job the guy did. He had to do quite a bit because the base plate was bent and the door was sagging as well so everything had to come apart. He noticed that the window at the top of the door was sinking (leaving air space) so he put a seal in and moved it into place. He explained to me that the actual top of the door has moved out of place. He put an extra seal at the top of the door to make sure it was a good fit with no air there either. All this to say Vortex does a great job.

I tried to open the front door of our business and could not get the door lock to turn from the inside. I used a Channel-Loc to (accidentally) pull the inside mechanism out of the door. It is 8 am. The door is locked. We are effectively closed to customers. Yikes! A panicked call to Stephanie at Vortex Doors produced two technicians in about 30 minutes who got us opened for business and quickly fixed the lock. They made the door easy to open from the inside and out.  My Channel-Loc is retired. Great job Vortex. You are our door company!

At Vortex we take safety very seriously, especially when harmful elements are involved. For this reason we made it a point to receive the EPA’s Lead-Safe Firm Certification.

The EPA’s Renovation, Repair, and Painting Regulation states that any renovations or repairs where over 6 square feet of interior lead-based paint is being disturbed an EPA Certified Contractor is required. This pertains to pre-1978 housing and child occupied facilities.

This certification qualifies us to identify renovations where lead based paint is involved in child occupied facilities. This can include facilities schools, day cares, hospitals, and much more.

Lead has been a hot topic in the news during the past few years and rightfully so. This chemical has some beneficial uses but can also be toxic to humans and pets. Believe it or not, lead is all around you in the air, soil, gasoline, and the previous use of lead-based paints.

While anyone exposed to lead can have health effects, children 6 and under are the most susceptible because they absorb more of it into their growing bodies. Reduction of lead exposure is also extremely important for pregnant women. If she’s exposed, the developing baby is too.

Head over to the EPA’s website to learn how lead exposure can affect the health of you, your child, and pregnant women.

At Vortex, our goal is to lower or eliminate lead exposure. Here are some tips straight from the EPA for lowering your exposure to lead.

  • Inspect and maintain all painted surfaces to prevent paint deterioration
  • Address water damage quickly and completely
  • Keep your home clean and dust-free
  • Clean around painted areas where friction can generate dust, such as doors, windows, and drawers. Wipe these areas with a wet sponge or rag to remove paint chips or dust
  • Use only cold water to prepare food and drinks
  • Flush water outlets used for drinking or food preparation
  • Clean debris out of outlet screens or faucet aerators on a regular basis
  • Wash children’s hands, bottles, pacifiers and toys often
  • Teach children to wipe and remove their shoes and wash hands after playing outdoors
  • Ensure that your family members eat well-balanced meals. Children with healthy diets absorb less lead.

If you’re doing your own home renovation, take a look through this EPA guide regarding renovating the right way to avoid lead exposure.

If you’re a business needing repairs or renovations, make sure they are a Lead-Safe Certified Firm. Look for the seal (below) to spot a Lead-Safe Certified Firm. It usually means that they, like us, take safety extremely seriously.
